The Call

“Come, my Way, my Truth, my Life: Such a Way, as gives us breath”:….the flowing lyrics of the Ralph Vaughan Williams ‘The Call’ performed in the accompanying  videoclip by Dennehy’s Cross Church choir under musical Director Richard Rudkins.

This beautiful piece is one of four poems (one in two parts) by Anglican Priest George Herbert (1593-1633) and set to music by Vaughan Williams under the title ‘Five Mystical Songs’. Originally scored for Baritone voice, the choir’s version is with SATB arrangement by Richard Rudkins.

It is built as a neo-classical style Latin Cross, 193 feet long and 98 feet across , and is dominated by a dome with a large bronze lantern, topped by a cross.
