The benefits of joining a choir

A recent survey by the University of Limerick’s Irish World Academy of Music and Dance concluded that singing in a choir impacts positivly on the physical, social and emotional wellbeing of a person.
Asking members of our own choir why they joined gives credence to the findings of the survey:

“I find that singing lifts my mood; if I’m feeling a bit down going to practice invariably makes me feel so much better”

“I have a medical condition that can restrict my breathing, but I find that singing regularly exercises my heart and lungs”

“I was quite shy and not very good at making friends but since joining the choir I find that I’m way more relaxed in people’s company”

“It has made me a far more confident person; not only can I sing with the group but I now have no problem doing my party piece”

“I love the social side of the choir, the coffee mornings but especially the trips abroad”

Armed with that information why not consider joining us or indeed some other choir. Now is a good time to join our group as we’re preparing for a very busy Christmas programme.
